The protesters alleged that staff of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company victimise Agege and Oshodi/Mafoluku residents by asking for total settlement of the accumulated debts before the release of pre-paid metres.
reports that some of the protesters carried placards with inscriptions that read: “Agege people are not chronic debtors”, “Ikeja Electricity, where is our pre-paid metres” and “We say ABSOLUTE NO TO BORROWED-LEG (FEEDER).”
The President of the Association, Niniola Moruf Adegoke, told  that they were protesting against the refusal of the electricity company to provide them with pre-paid metre and price inflation from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) without the consent of the state government.
The leaders of the association have completely condemned the lawlessness and oppressive behaviour of both state agencies.

At the time of filling this report no one from the state government had come out to address the youths as they waited.
