In a swift, the motor cyclists stormed the base of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to retrieve their bikes, but a fight started which led to the alleged killing of the toll-collectors.

A source said: “These boys called themselves ticketers but in actual fact, they are omo niles who just feel that they can oppress non indigenes working in their community. That fateful day, the ticketers stopped the okada riders and they demanded money.
They have been collecting money from bus riders and commercial motorcycle riders called okada with impunity. The Hausa ‘Okada riders’ refused to give them the money and they seized their bikes and took them away.

However, the ‘abokis’ organised themselves and went to recover the bike. That was how a fight started and two of the ticketers were killed. The Okada riders ran away but there is tension in the community as the Yoruba youth are hunting for northerners in the area.

The elders have tried to intervene, while the police have been invited into the matter.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would soon start giving primary school children free meals, Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said, on Tuesday. According to Osinbajo, who said this at the 45th Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja, the free feeding scheme was a core project of the Federal Government that would in turn create about 1.14 million jobs and lead to increase in food production.

He said the government would be investing more in the people, education and job creation noting that better educated population increases economic potential for productivity.

He added that the All Progressives Congress has made a commitment to provide one-meal-a-day for all primary school students; that would create jobs in agriculture, including poultry, catering and delivery services. He decried the high rate of unemployment despite increase in oil sales, Gross Domestic Product and foreign reserves during the previous administrations.
